I’ve played Guild Wars 2 for one week now and I’ve been blown away by how casual – friendly the game is. As a student with minimal time to put into games, GW2 is one that will allow you to log on for 30 minutes and leave you with a feeling of fullfilment.
Dynamic Events
The dynamic events and world bosses have been a joy to attempt. I’ve never done one alone in my whole week of playing the game. I was always accompanied with others working towards to same goal of completing the mission objective. The encourage spontaneous teamwork and make you feel like you are part of a greater, living, world.
Level-Scaling
The level-scaling system in GW2 is one where players can explore any part of the massive map without worrying about being overpowered or under-leveled. The players’ level changes to adjust to the part of the map they are currently in. This means that one can do the starting level zones with similar efficiency as players who are currently at the level of the zone. This system ensures that players can progress through the game at their own pace, without feeling forced to grind or rush through content.
Casual-Friendly Gameplay
GW2 offers casual-friendly gameplay that allows players to log in and have fun, without feeling like they need to dedicate hours of their time to make progress. The game’s structured PvP and WvW modes provide competitive gameplay options that don’t require endless grinding or gear progression. I was able to access the PvP world within the first hour of playing. It let me try my character at max level which gave me a great understanding of how the character plays down the line.
Summary
Guild Wars 2 offers a refreshing and most importantly, respectful MMO experience that allows players to progress and have fun without feeling like their time is being wasted. The game’s phenomonal balance of dynamic events, level-scaling system, casual-friendly gameplay, and much, much more all contribute to a game that truly respects the player’s time.
